Theriault & Hachey Peat Moss recognizes the environmental and ecological importance of peat bog restoration. We are committed to protecting our natural resources and ensuring the integrated and sound management of our environment for future generations. Our restoration plan is designed to restore depleted peat bogs by planting sphagnum moss, trees and also by creating wetlands. To make this possible, we have hired specialized contractors who have developed practical methods of restoring peat bogs. These techniques will allow the land to quickly return to its natural state.
We have also participated in bird and insect population research, as well as the restoration of environmental hydrology through the introduction of manmade lakes. Our initial work has shown very promising results: both birds and insects have begun to repopulate the restored areas. We will continue to work closely with our contractors to develop and use new techniques to accelerate the restoration of depleted peat bogs.
